They covered much ground that day and their reports up to then were uneventful. They managed to find a way to scale the Ashen Mountains and in two weeks time, they reached the pinnacles. I was not in the research room when the team started to receive unusual communications. I rushed back into the research room to the most spectacular scene on the monitors.
Our friends on the Ashen Mountains had managed to uncover quite a scene. Ahead of them, and hovering far above the terrain, they discovered several unidentified vessels. They were circular, silent and despite the lightness of late day, the vessels were quite colorful. Through their equipment, we watched the alien vessels perform various maneuvers.
Suddenly, we heard our friends start arguing with someone. By the movement of the camera, we realized that there was a struggle. Soon, the camera was dropped and other than the wind, everything was silent for several minutes. In moments, we heard a low but audible hum, a barely audible beeping, and the camera feed went out.
